Quinoa originated in the Andean region of South America (Peru and Bolivia) and was domesticated around 3,000 years ago for human consumption. 

Quinoa is an excellent source of protein, dietary fibre and vitamins and is also gluten-free. After harvest, the seeds are processed to remove the bitter-tasting outer layer of the grain. Due to the above health benefits, quinoa has become very popular over the last decade.

We have recently partnered with Iberoquinoa in Spain, who have been cultivating and developing quinoa that is suitable to be grown in the Andalucia area of Spain since 2014.

Iberoquinoa have developed a seed that not only has bigger and whiter grains that are comparable with South American quinoa, but also a variety that is resistant to disease and that can still survive with little to no water. This makes our Spanish quinoa highly sustainable with little to no need for any pesticide use or irrigation.
